    Explanation of Your Vision Benefits Plan

    Vision Care Exams

    Regular, vision care examinations are vital to maintaining good visual health. Including a vision care exam in your benefits package may reduce medical costs. According to the American Optometric Association, the recommended examination frequency for children and adults are as follows:

      Low Risk Contact Lens Wearer or At Risk for Ocular Disease
    6 months–2 years At 6 to 12 months of age At 6 to 12 months of age or as recommended
    3–5 years At least once between 3 and 5 years of age At least once between 3 and 5 years of age or as recommended
    6–18 years Before first grade and annually thereafter Before first grade and annually thereafter, or as recommended
    18–39 years At least every two years At least annually, or as recommended
    40–64 years At least every two years At least annually, or as recommended
    65 and older Annually At least annually, or as recommended
