    Vision Care Exams

    Vision care examinations are vital to maintaining good visual health. Including a vision care exam in benefits packages may reduce medical costs. According to the American Optometric Association, the recommended examination frequency for children and adults are as follows:

      Low Risk Contact Lens Wearer or At Risk for Ocular Disease
    6 months
    – 2 years    		 At 6 to 12 months of age At 6 to 12 months of age or as recommended
    3 – 5 years At least once between 3 and 5 years of age At least once between 3 and 5 years of age or as recommended
    6 – 18 years Before first grade and annually thereafter Before first grade and annually thereafter, or as recommended
    18 – 39 years At least every two years At least annually, or as recommended
    40 – 64 years At least every two years At least annually, or as recommended
    65 and older Annually At least annually, or as recommended
