Here at VBA, we believe it’s important to maintain strong ties with our community. VBA’s Provider Relations and Marketing departments were thrilled to represent the company while volunteering at the Baldwin United Presbyterian Church food pantry earlier this week.
The food pantry at Baldwin United Presbyterian Church is just one of three food pantries that the South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM) operates. Last year, SHIM’s pantries served over 600 families and 1,700 individuals.
Our volunteers were able to lend a hand stocking shelves, sorting diapers, discarding boxes and when all was said and done, cleaning up.
Chad Cygnarowicz, our Provider Relations Supervisor, enjoyed the chance to give back. “It was great to have the opportunity to volunteer with my colleagues. I learned a lot about the items pantries need and it really inspired me to get my family involved in future volunteering efforts.”
Our Credentialing Specialist, Denice Calvert, hopes that everyone will get to experience working at a food pantry at least once. “It’s a rewarding experience. Donating your time is a great way to give back.”
SHIM welcomes anyone who wishes to volunteer. For more information or to sign up, visit http://shimcares.org/volunteer/.
